This is all about knowing both Programming and Networking, as I.T engineers help to meet their employer’s needs for computer hardware, software and networking tools. They work to develop, test, install, configure and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.

This more advanced combination of technical and programming skills gives the learner a wider range of I.T skills to qualify for more senior positions and higher paying job opportunities in any ICT field of expertise, with job titles such as Senior Developers, I.T Project Managers or Network Architects.*

IT101 - END USER COMPUTING

NOT FOR CREDITS.

This module focuses on introducing and developing students’ business computing skills and their understanding of computing in a business environment.

Business computing skills covered in the course relate to spreadsheets, word processing, search techniques and the use of computers as a presentation medium, using the Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

IT102 - HAREWARE AND SOFTWARE FUNDAMENTALS

12 Credits

This module covers the CompTIA A+ Hardware and Software Cirriculum, and the aim is to introduce learners to hardware and software fundamentals, such as PC infrastructure, peripherals, troubleshooting and installations.

IT103 - NETWORKING FUNDAMENTALS

28 Credits

This module covers components of the CompTIA N+ and Microsoft MTA 40366 Cirriculum. The aim of this module is to introduce Networking concepts such as topologies, WiFi, IP Addressing, LAN, WAN and network configurations.

IT104 - SECURITY FUNDAMENTALS

6 Credits

This module cover the Microsoft MTA 40367 curriculum, and focuses on introducing learners to security risks to a PC Infrastructure such as Trojans, worms, viruses and risk management.

IT105 - SERVER FUNDAMENTALS

6 credits

This module covers the Microsoft 40365 curriculum, and will give the learners an understanding of servers, including operating an enterprise server computer system.

IT106 - OPERATING SYSTEMS

16 Credits

This module prepares students to meet the requirements of the Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Certification.

The aim of this module is to introduce learners to full operating system installations, and configure a multi-user networked operating system.

IT107 - SERVER MANAGEMENT

44 Credits

This module prepares students to meet the requirements for the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Server 2016 Certification.

The content covers advanced server installation, configuration and administration to commission multi-user system software on a server computer.

IT108 - TECHNICAL SUPPORT

15 Credits

This module will enable the learner to provide technical customer support, diagnose faults and provide structured solutions.

IT109 - BUSINESS SKILLS

30 credits

This module will give the learners an understanding of types of businesses, entrepreneurship, organisational procedures and business plans within the South African I.T sector.

IT110 - GRAPHICS AND MEDIA

5 Credits

This module will enable the learner to design a local area computer network for a departmental office environment using computer aided drawing software.

IT201 - PROJECT MANAGEMENT

IT203 - PROGRAMMING FUNDAMENTALS

This module covers the Microsoft MTA curriculum for 40363, 40361, 40375 and 40364.

The module aims to introduce learners to basic programming languages, concepts, platforms, and testing of code, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL and C#.

IT204 - DATABASE DEVELOPMENT

22 Credits

This module prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Certification in SQL 2016.

This module aims to teach learners what databases are, why they are required, querying, administering and implementing them in a business, using SQL.

IT205 - APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

34 Credits

This module prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Certification in Web Applications and the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) Certification in App Builder.

This module teaches learners the programming language of C#, which is a widely used code for application development.

IT206 - WEB DEVELOPMENT

34 Credits

This module prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Certification in Web Applications and the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) Certification in App Builder.

This module focuses on developing interactive web forms, pages and sites using Javascript, HTML and CSS.
